And it only took 28 years
Venerated veteran British rockers Thunder will finally undertake their maiden tour of Australia early next year, nearly three decades after first coming together.
Twenty-eight years on from their inception in London way back in 1989, the respected hit-makers — whose first two albums, 1990's Back Street Symphony and 1992's Laughing On Judgment Day, went Gold in the UK — will touch down for their admittedly brief debut tour from Tuesday 7 March, when they kick off at the Factory Theatre, Sydney. The band will also grace the stages of Melbourne's Corner Hotel, Brisbane's Triffid and Perth's Capitol, where they wrap up their first-ever antipodean run, before that week is out.
The band has had a prolific recorded output over their decorated history, tallying 10 studio full-lengths since 1990 — the most recent of which is 2015's Wonder Days, their first album in nearly seven years — in addition to nine compilation albums, 22 singles and a remarkable 29 live albums. (So, you know, they're obviously pretty decent in the flesh in addition to being super-productive songwriters.)
Tickets for all shows go on sale this Friday, 22 July. See theGuide (below) for more information.
