The best in jazz, experimental and classical music

Ahead of the 2016 Art Music Awards, APRA AMCOS and Australian Music Centre have revealed the finalists in all 11 categories, recognising the best in jazz, experimental and classical music in Australia.

Australian Music Centre's CEO John Davis says, "The people included in these lists, and indeed across all the nominations lodged, represent our champions, and those who champion our champions. The names of those established and emerging, in cities and in regional areas, show that we have much to celebrate in the Australian art music sector."

Composers Elliott Gyger, Paul Grabowsky and Andrew Schultz have picked up multiple nominations this year, the latter with two pieces nominated for Vocal/Choral Work Of The Year. In the Award For Excellence In Experimental Music category, composer and producer Leah Barclay picked up a nomination for WIRA River Listening, along with Decibel, Clan Analogue and Speak Percussion

Unsurprisingly, Sydney Chamber Opera picked up a nod for Performance Of The Year alongside Goldner String Quartet and Louise Devenish, while Jazz Work Of The Year was dominated by composer Paul Grabowsky with two nominations.
