Five years is a decent period between records, but such an absence from US rock icons Red Hot Chili Peppers wasn’t enough to impact the loyalty of their Aussie fanbase, with the band’s comeback record, The Getaway, claiming top place on the ARIA Albums Chart.

The 11th record from the iconic act is their first since 2011’s I’m With You, and its #1 debut marks the band’s sixth on the Aus charts – their previous top placement going to 2006’s Stadium Arcadium LP.

In the lead up to the highly anticipated release, RHCP were forced to cancel a gig in California after frontman Anthony Kiedis was rushed to hospital from the venue suffering "complications from the intestinal flu".

As mid-week figures predicted, The Getaway knocked Aussie rockers The Temper Trap down from the top spot after they last week scored their second consecutive #1 on the charts, and Radiohead’s A Moon Shaped Pool has crashed back into the Top 3 (#2), closely followed by Chili Pepper’s Greatest Hits album at #4.

In a win for local pop punk, Sydney outfit With Confidence have score a Top 30 debut with their new record, Better Weather, landing #22 following extensive international touring.

Rounding out the album debuts is Gojira's Magma (#11), Case/Lang/Veirs' self-titled offering (#12), Jake Bugg's On My One (#16), YG's Still Brazy (#24), the soundtrack for UK film Me Before You (#32) and Bob EvansCar Boot Sale (#46).

Over on the Singles Chart, Drake holds steady at #1 with his Wizkid & Kyla collab One Dance – a tune that has now held first place over on the UK Singles Chart for 11 weeks, making it the longest running chart-topper since 2004 when legal download providers launched in the country.

The record for Drake unfortunately blocked Melbourne act Cookin’ On 3 Burners from first place with French producer Kungs' remix of their tune This Girl – a song that last week claimed #1 on the UK Dance Charts and currently sits on #2 on the overall UK Singles Chart.

Debuts on the ARIA Singles Chart this week comes from Twenty One PilotsHeathens and Jarryd JamesBroods collab 1000x.
