'The Getaway' is a hit!

Fans have waited five years for new material from US legends Red Hot Chili Peppers and it looks to be well worth it as the group's 11th studio album, The Getaway, is the favourite to take out #1 this week on the ARIA Albums Chart.

The new record is primed for a top three debut and is the only threat to taking down Aussie rockers The Temper Trap

If RHCP are successful in clinching top spot, it will mark the band's sixth #1 Aus album and their first since their 2006 effort, Stadium Arcadium.

Radiohead are also making a late push to re-enter the top three with their ninth album A Moon Shaped Pool, which peaked at #2 last month.
