BIGSOUND's First Artist Line-Up Is Just As Amazing As Their Speakers

Seriously, not a conference to miss

Annual industry conference BIGSOUND aren't holding anything back for its 15th anniversary this year. Having unleashed an absolutely stellar line-up of speakers this May — one that's perfect for musicians looking to get a start in the industry and make the right connections — today's first line-up of showcase artists is equally as tantalising.

The three-day conference has enlisted the biggest and brightest names in the Australian music scene, names that without doubt will grace every festival bill and signing announce next year. Flume, Courtney Barnett and RUFUS all started at BIGSOUND and have gone on to colossal success, so we're sure to see some shining stars from this year's line-up too.

This year's contingent features the likes of emcee Sampa The Great, as well as Ivan Ooze, Alex Lahey (fresh from a Pitchfork feature, Josh Pyke Partnership win and opening triple j unearthed at this year's Splendour), MOSSY, Fascinator (Children Collide's Johnny Mackay), The Preatures' Gideon Bensen stepping out on his own, fresh Elefant Traks signee B Wise, Melburnian soul act Clairy Browne, pop punk boys Columbus, metalcore act Totally Unicorn and multi-instrumentalist Tash Sultana.

BIGSOUND have even called on a few internationals this year, including America's NAATIONS, New Zealanders Fazerdaze, Groeni and Young Tapz and India's Prateek Kuhad, showcasing the widespread influence the Fortitude Valley conference holds worldwide.

"Nick and I thoroughly reviewed every single act on this lineup so far," explained BIGSOUND co-programmer Maggie Collins. "All the acts make compelling music in their own style and are in a position to use BIGSOUND to make their mark either nationally or globally. What an honor it is to facilitate that process and further strengthen the economy of contemporary Australian music."

Couple the 150+ bands you can catch live with keynotes, panels and networking sessions with people like UNIFIED big boss Jaddan Comerford, Conan O'Brien's music segment producer Jim Pitt, Vagrant Records/BMG's Jeremy Maciak (The 1975, PJ Harvey), Secretly Publishing's Jon Coombs (Bon Iver, Jens Lekman) and a ton of local industry heavyweights, this year's BIGSOUND is set for another blockbuster year from 7 to 9 September.
