Amid a slew of other great news for the up-and-comer
Blue Mountains-based soul/hip-hop act PON CHO has capitalised on the acclaim surrounding his excellent debut single, Lonely Walls (ft. Paige IV), by securing a slew on industry deals in its wake, including a fresh signing with esteemed booking agency New World Artists.
In addition to finding a booking home with the good folks at NWA, PON CHO has nailed down a management deal in Australia with Nathan Farrell and Josef Muller of Nathan Farrell Entertainment, as well as worldwide representation by Adam "Weez" Booth of Affinity Music, with Jerry Soer of Vitalic Noise co-managing for North and South America.
That's all in addition to PON CHO marking the debut signing for nascent local label Night High, founded recently by music-media upstart Nic Kelly, in tandem with EMI. Meanwhile, internationally, PON CHO has signed a US label deal with Capitol Records.
This clout perhaps shouldn't be so surprising; despite his emergent status as a solo concern, PON CHO has worked as a member of Sydney hip hop collective Thundamentals, as well as co-producing their ARIA-nominated LP So We Can Remember. He also picked up another ARIA nom for co-producing Tuka's Life Death Time Eternal. That's a lot of credibility for someone with only one — albeit really, really good — single to his name, and speaks volumes about the potential all these key players see in PON CHO going forward.
