Some hopeful news for the singer.
Japanese pop star Mayu Tomita has reportedly regained consciousness just weeks after she hospitalised in a critical condition after being stabbed more than 20 times by a fan.
According to Sankei Shinbun (via Tokyo Reporter), the 20-year-old singer awoke in an intensive care unit at a hospital on Friday, after suffering wounds to her neck, chest, arms and back in the attack during a meet and greet in Tokyo.
Tomita is expected to be interviewed by authorities once her condition improves.
The attacker, Tomohiro Iwazaki, allegedly confronted Tomita as he was upset a gift he sent the musician had been returned.
