"Thanks so much to Josh and his team for giving this kid a real leg up."
Josh Pyke has awarded this year's Josh Pyke Partnership grant to Melburnian rising star Alex Lahey today, with the young singer/songwriter set to take home $7,500 to make sure her music career keeps going full steam ahead as it has been for the past year.
Announcing the winner on his Facebook page, the ARIA-winning singer said Lahey "had an excellent business plan, a history of achieving results under their own steam, and most importantly of all, a song that I couldn’t get out of my head for days".
After learning of the win, Lahey stated, "I am so grateful for the support and am really excited about the opportunities this gives me to get out around the country, bringing the AL live show to you.

The Josh Pyke Partnership, offered in conjunction with APRA AMCOS, will also enable Lahey to meet Wonderlick Entertainment's Gregg Donovan and Select Music's Stephen Wade, as well as receive mentorship from Pyke himself.
Last year's winner Gordi has gone on to achieve incredible things, including getting signed to indie rock behemoth Jagjaguwar, playing at this year's SXSW and touring with Of Monsters & Men and Highasakite.
