Three of Australia's foremost musicians (plus a British fly-in) will perform two of The Beatles' most beloved albums, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Abbey Road, in full and back-to-back on an ambitious run of impending shows fittingly titled Beatles Back2Back.

The band pulled together to pay tribute to The Beatles' classic albums is an appropriately prestigious group of players comprised of veteran Aussie troubadour and ARIA Hall Of Fame inductee Russell Morris, Eskimo Joe frontman and multiple ARIA winner Kav Temperley, local vocalist/guitarist extraordinaire Jack Jones (Southern Sons, John Farnham) and stalwart UK folk singer-songwriter Jon Allen.

Kicking off at Melbourne's Plenary Theatre on Saturday 20 August, Back2Back will hit stages in Adelaide (Adelaide Entertainment Centre, 21 August) and Brisbane (QPAC Lyric Theatre, Thursday 25 August) before wrapping with a double showing in Sydney (Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, 26 & 27 August).

The Back2Back shows have been arranged by the same team behind previous tribute runs The White Album Concert, Rubber Soul Revolver and All You Need Is Love, instilling the performances with a sense of pedigree on the production side of things in addition to the talented musicians on-board, who, along with the core foursome, include a 15-strong band replete with horn and string sections as well as an array of traditional Indian instruments (rest easy, fans of Within You Without You).

There will be no half measures here — the supergroup quartet will perform both Sgt Pepper's and Abbey Road in their entirety, in their original order. Said Back2Back co-producers Tim Woods and Phil Bathols in a statement: "Recreating some of the most elaborate and audacious songs in The Beatles' catalogue calls for a rare combination of emotional energy, bravado and considerable expertise."

"With these four guys, and 15 hand-picked musicians led by Rex Goh, we reckon we've put together an awesome ensemble that will do the songs proud — and that's saying something."

Tickets for Beatles Back2Back go on sale from 9am local time next Monday, 6 June, via Ticketmaster and The Beatles Live website.
