Surprise!
Australia's foremost Hammond organ fans, Cookin' On 3 Burners, are enjoying something of a Europe-led surge in stature at the moment following their recent collaboration with French producer Kungs.
In the months since the release of This Girl — under the moniker Kungs Vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners — the track has hit massive heights in Europe, soaring to #1 in France back in March as well as hitting the top five (at #4) on Germany's official charts this month. This is in addition to its #1 peaks on the French and German iTunes charts (it hit #21 in Australia, #20 in Italy and #11 in the UK) to date, as well as its top-40 chart result (#31) at home.
Even though it's been making its presence known for a couple of months now, This Girl (which shares its name with the Cookin' On 3 Burners song from which it takes its roots) has another accolade to add to the team-up's collective cap, having now broken the top 100 on the official UK charts to land at #91. Sure, it's down the bottom end, but it's still several places higher than the next-highest new face (Drake, Redemption, #99). And it's the UK charts, people.
It's hard to overstate just how popular this track has been around the continent since its release; it was even Track Of The Day on BBC Radio 1 recently, and is the core tentpole of Kungs' current European tour, taking him to stages around France as well as in Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and other countries.
