Welcome to the future.
Global video sharing website YouTube has this week launched its premium subscription service YouTube Red and music app in Australia.
For $11.99 a month, YouTube Red provides users an ad-free service and the ability to save videos and watch them offline, while also giving access to new original series and movies streamed exclusively on the service.
In addition to this, the app also offers background play, which ensures that videos and music continue to play even when on other apps.
Between now and 6 June, users can purchase YouTube Red for $9.99, while a one-month free trial is available now.

Meanwhile, following the success of YouTube Gaming, the YouTube Music App is also being launched in the country and though Google (who own YouTube) have their own music service in Google Play Music, users who are subscribed to at least one of the services will have access to the other.
The app features a massive music catalogue and provides remixes, covers, lyric videos and concert footage for many of the tracks available.
Similar to Spotify, playlists will be curated by the app based on the users tastes in music, while new lists will be updated daily.
Following its launch in the US, Australia is just the second region to gain access to the new services.
