DEA looking into doctors prescribed singer drugs.

More Prince More Prince

Following a search warrant being carried out at the home of Prince, it is being reported that the DEA have launched a federal investigation at the Paisley Park estate into doctors who prescribed the late singer medication.

Just a week after it was revealed the iconic artist was seeking treatment for addiction to painkillers, TMZ have reported that the investigation is related to a series of federal laws that target "doctors who sell prescriptions to drug abusers" or forge prescriptions.

It is alleged that Andrew Kornfield, son of painkiller specialist Doctor Howard Kornfield who was assigned to meet with Prince just a day after he tragically died, is being targeted by investigators as he arrived to Paisley Park on the day of the musician's death with a back pack of synthetic opiates, which assist with pain management and help wean users off pure opiates.

Kornfield is believed to be the voice heard in the 911 emergency call advising of Prince's condition.

Meanwhile, KISS co-founder Gene Simmons has apologised for comments he made in a recent interview where he suggested that Prince's death was "pathetic".

"His drugs killed him. What do you think, he died from a cold?" Simmons told Newsweek

"I think Prince was heads, hands and feet above all the rest of them. I thought he left [Michael] Jackson in the dust. Prince was way beyond that. But how pathetic that he killed himself. Don’t kid yourself, that’s what he did. Slowly, I’ll grant you...but that’s what drugs and alcohol is: a slow death."

Just hours ago, the rock musician took to his Twitter to apologise.

"I have a long history of getting very angry at what drugs do to the families/friends of the addicts," he wrote.

"I get angry at drug users because of my experience being around them coming up in the rock scene. In my experience they’ve made my life, and the lives of their loved ones, difficult."

Band member Paul Stanley also slammed Simmons' comments on his own Twitter account.
