More The Lockhearts More The Lockhearts

Ascendant Sydney outfit The Lockhearts have tucked another feather in their cap in the wake of a resounding 2015, freshly signing with indie label Golden Robot Records.

The deal will see the band, who released well-received double EP Tales From The Sea last year alongside embarking on an epic 30-date national tour, record and release their forthcoming debut studio full-length with the label, for which work has already commenced.

"Never trust anyone who doesn’t like Tom Petty," frontman Tim Meaco said in a statement. "Some of the tracks have a real down-home southern sound while others are sitting heavier than anything we’ve put out before. There’s been a lot of Sabbath in the jam room lately.

"Self-classification is often a tiresome and self aggrandizing process, so we avoided all of that in an attempt to describe the sound of the new tracks and settled under the obvious and self-explanatory moniker of Americana Doom Fuzz.”

The relationship between the band and company came to be following The Lockhearts' madness-fuelled Old Mate's Block Party at The Factory, at which they performed alongside peers such as Joseph Liddy & The Skeleton Horse, The Dead Love, The Cherry Dolls and more, and caught the attention of Golden Robot's newly appointed A&R representative.

Like their new signing, Golden Robot is an entity on the rise, having been established just under a year ago but already boasting offices around the world, including in Sydney, New Zealand, Los Angeles and New York. Understandably, the band are pretty chuffed about the prospects the new deal affords them.

"It’s awesome having Golden Robot on board — we were stoked with how Tales From The Sea turned out and we literally recorded that in a stair-well… so we’re looking forward to see what we can produce in an actual studio," bassist Jameel Majam said.

"Plus it helps the creative process knowing we have a supportive label like GRR backing us," guitarist Samuel Sheumack added.

The Lockhearts will take to the studio in July to record their debut album, which will be released through Golden Robot later this year. Head to the band's Facebook page for more information, and keep your eyes peeled for an imminent tour announce in the wake of the album's release.
