New South Wales Supreme Court censors investigative documentary following injunction.
After an injunction made by former Papua New Guinea politician Carol Kidu, who is featured in the documentary The Opposition, sections of the documentary have been censored to avoid her appearing or speaking in the film.
The documentary was meant to have its world premiere on 3 May at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival in Toronto, but will now not be shown in full.
The film's producer Rebecca Barry has brought about the question of freedom of speech but the film remains modified — the redacted version of the film features narration by Australian actress Sarah Snook over the censored footage.
