14 records in the ARIA Albums Chart and plenty more in the US and UK
The impact from the sudden and shocking passing of music icon Prince is still having a massive impact on charts across the globe, with the beloved innovator having 14 albums in the ARIA Albums Chart a week on and continually dominating the UK and US figures.
Prince passed away aged 57 just over a week ago at his Paisley Park home in Minneapolis, with the cause of death expected to be delivered in four weeks.
The news sent shockwaves across the globe that were immediately reflected on iTunes charts around the world and a week on it’s clear from other figures just how big an impact it had.
His countless singles and game-changing records have been thrust back into the ARIA charts, with compilation album The Very Best Of Prince (2001) his highest re-entry on the Albums Chart, sitting at #2 only beaten to number one by Beyoncé’s Lemonade — not even Prince could counter the Bey Effect.

Prince also landed The Hits/The B Sides (1993) at #4 and Purple Rain at #5, the latter of which peaked at #1 on the chart back in 1984.
Mid-week figures showed 2006’s Ultimate Prince was a contender for the top spot, but it ended up at #6, the final top ten re-entry for the Purple One, while a diverse spread of the icon's back-catalogue also soared back into the Album Charts, including Sign O' The Times (1987), Diamonds & Pearls (1991), HITnRUN Phase One (2015), The Hits 1 (1993), 1999 (1982), Art Official Age (2014), Around The World In A Day (1985), Love Symbol Album (1992), Plectrumelectrum (2004) and Parade (1986).
Over on the Singles Chart, 11 fan favourites have reappeared, with Purple Rain, When Doves Cry, Little Red Corvette, Kiss, 1999, Cream, Raspberry Beret, Diamonds And Pearls, Let’s Go Crazy, Controversy and Gett Off getting a mention.
The UK Albums Chart mirrors that of the Australian, with 14 classic records flooding back in, including The Very Best Of at #2, Ultimate at #3 and Purple Rain at #4 and six tracks gracing the Singles Chart.
Meanwhile, the US Albums Chart shows the strongest top ten love as The Very Best Of Prince charts #1 followed by Purple Rain at #2 and The Hits/The B Sides at #6.
Outside of Prince’s placings, the ARIA Albums Chart sees debuts from Australian Eurovision contestant Dami Im with Classic Carpenters (#3), Aussie icon Paul Kelly's Seven Sonnets & A Song (#9), indie rockers Camp Cope's new self-titled effort (#36) and Melbourne Ska Orchestra’s Sierra Kilo Alpha (#38).
The ARIA Single Charts also sees an influx of material from Beyoncé while Aussie producer Flume debuts at #7 with his new track with Tove Lo, Say It.
