update:

Ticketmaster has defended the high scalping prices advertised on their Ticketmaster Resale website for At The Drive-In's upcoming Splendour In The Grass sideshows, insisting that they simply provide a platform for ticket holders who determine how much they want to sell their tickets for.

"For high-demand events, it is inevitable that a resale market will exist," a spokesperson told theMusic

"Ticket holders, not Ticketmaster Resale, control the inventory and the price of the tickets, which can be listed above or below the original face value.

"Ticketmaster Resale is a ticket marketplace that responds to what fans want; the ability to buy and resell tickets when they are no longer available on the primary market."

Though some tickets for the ATDI shows were selling for up to four times the original price on the resale website today, the spokesperson ensured customers of the site's vaildity.

"A key benefit of using Ticketmaster Resale is that it is safe and secure for buyers. We offer a 100% money back guarantee, which is not provided by all secondary sites."

Splendour In The Grass sideshow promoters Secret Sounds Touring have today released a statement urging punters to not purchase tickets from unauthorised sellers as tickets to some of the sold out shows are now going for more than double the price.

Earlier today, Pedestrian reported that Ticketmaster are selling tickets to At The Drive-In's sideshows for up to four times the price of a single ticket, however in a statement posted to the Secret Sounds Facebook page, organisers said they cannot "guarantee the validity" of tickets purchased through other outlets.

"Please do not purchase your tickets to our shows through any unauthorised sellers (Ticketmaster RESALE, ViaGoGo, Ebay, Gumtree & The Ticket Merchant)," the statement reads.

"Ticket links on our website are the only authorised sellers of our concert tickets and we can't guarantee the validity of any tickets purchased through these other channels."

It has been reported that tickets to ATDI's shows went on sale at 9am this morning and within minutes, tickets began to appear on the Ticketmaster resale site.

A tweet from a punter (sourced by Pedestrian) showed tickets to ATDI's Melbourne show, which were originally on sale for $90, being sold on the resale site for $458.

Secret Sounds Touring are promoting sideshows for Splendour acts that include James Blake, The 1975, Jake Bugg and more.
