The emergent British singer-songwriter will be joined by US chanteuse Kacy Hill for his headline gigs
Breakout British singer-songwriter Jack Garratt has announced two headline shows as part of his forthcoming Australian visit for Splendour In The Grass this July, to be performed with special guest Kacy Hill.
Garratt will engage in a bit of a pre-festival warm-up with these shows (proudly presented by The Music and triple j), bringing his widely renowned singing/production/instrumental talents to stalwart Melbourne haunt 170 Russell on Wednesday 20 July and Sydney's Metro Theatre on Thursday 21 July before Splendour kicks off on the Friday.
With his mostly self-produced debut LP Phase still fresh (it dropped back in February), the notoriety that Garratt is accruing for himself as an intelligent and accessible crafter of R&B-flecked trip-hop/indie-pop is prodigious. His debut even picked up Feature Album honours on triple j, while he's been racking up accolades at events such as the 2016 Brit Awards and in rankings such as the BBC Music Sound Poll of 2016, for both of which he picked up critics' choice nods.
Similarly decorated in her own right is ascendant US singer-songwriter Kacy Hill, who has made good use of the power of the internet by soaring to the top five of Spotify's Global Viral Top 50 chart with undeniable single Foreign Fields, a co-write with none other than Garratt himself, the pair meeting through legendary figure Rick Rubin. Add to her bow the figurative strings of being a part of Kanye West's performance troupe for his Yeezus tour as well as going on to sign with the man's G.O.O.D. label, and it's not hard to see why she's a shoe-in for one of the festival's most intriguing incoming acts.
