It'll be Ivan Sen's second film to screen on Opening Night

As we gear up for the 63rd Sydney Film Festival this year, organisers have announced that Goldstone, directed by indigenous writer/director Ivan Sen, will be proudly opening this year's proceedings.

The outback noir features an A+ cast, including the likes of Jacki Weaver, David Wenham, Cheng Pei-pei and more, and was shot in rural western Queensland, once again circling the endeavours of indigenous detective Jay Swan, who we first met in Sydney Film Festival's 2013 opening film, Mystery Road.

Sen says of being given the honour of once again opening SFF, "You get the sense you must offer something special to be invited back to open the Festival for a second time, and we hope that Goldstone does do that. It’s an extreme privilege for everyone involved with the film to have this exciting opportunity.

"The first screening of the film anywhere in the world will be here, at home in our country, on country, where it should be."
