In light of the result, familiar faces continue to dominate
Sydney-based future-soul vocalist Ngaiire has taken out a top-20 spot on debut on the Carlton Dry Independent Music Charts with new single Diggin, from this year's sophomore album Blastoma, claiming #16 in a week heavy on familiar faces.
The Papua New Guinea-bred songstress stands alone as the only act to achieve a debut entry across both the full-length and singles charts this week. That said, the Sia hit parade shows no signs of letting up, with the singer claiming both the single and album #1 again with Cheap Thrills and This Is Acting, respectively, now in their 16th and 10th week on the charts.
She also picks up the #4 single spot with Alive, with a further two entries inside the top 10 alone — Chandelier at #6 and Elastic Heart at #9 — as well as a final showing towards the cutoff with Big Girls Cry at #17. Flume's Never Be Like You (feat. Kai) (#2), Joel Adams' Please Don't Go (#3) and The Rubens' Hoops (#5) round out the top five.
As far as return efforts go, The Temper Trap's 2008 hit Sweet Disposition at #19 and Meg Mac's Never Be at #20 re-enter the charts at the tail end. The Temper Trap also claim #8 with recent cut Thick As Thieves, down one rung from its #7 result last week.

In the albums list, stalwart ensemble The Cat Empire score #2 with Rising With The Sun, while Planetshakers' Momentum (Live In Manila) claims #3. Sia's 1000 Forms Of Fear (#4) and The Drones' Feelin Kinda Free (#5) finish off the albums top five, with the former also picking up a third top-10 entry by way of Best Of… leaping up from #17 last week to claim #9 this time at bat.
Despite a lack of new releases, there were four re-entries to the chart with Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu claiming two: 2008 release Gurrumul at #16 and last year's The Gospel Album at #19. The Cat Empire's 2003 self-titled debut also re-enters at #17, and The Murlocs' Young Blindness returns to the chart at #20.
