"...I will fight these charges to my last breath."

Melbourne music promoter Andrew McManus has emphatically rejected claims he is involved in an FBI investigation, after it was reported that he failed to turn up for a scheduled court appearance this week.

McManus was arrested last September following the discovery of a suitcase filled with $700,000 in cash at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney and was charged with perverting the course of justice, attempting to defraud by false or misleading statements and knowingly participating in a criminal group to assist crime, though he has not been charged with money laundering.

The Daily Telegraph reported earlier this week that McManus, who recently promoted KISS' latest Australian tour, sent a lawyer on his behalf to Sydney's Downing Centre on Tuesday, however he has dismissed these claims in a Facebook statement posted yesterday.

"For some reason The Daily Telegraph Confidential...have decided to write a libellous account of a court appearance yesterday. I was excused from attending which was made very clear in the mention," McManus' post reads.

"They...are making up the money were profits from a Lenny Kravitz tour — must have made that one up on the fly...wonder where they pulled this one from...

"For the sake of clarity, I was not required to appear in court on Tuesday, I have never been bankrupt and I will fight these allegations until my last breath…"

McManus' lawyer has reportedly requested a six-week adjournment and is due back in court on 10 May.
