The experimental/math-rock icons will perform three east-coast gigs this July
Revived Washington-bred experimental post-hardcore/math-rock heroes The Fall Of Troy last year shook off the rust after five years of inactivity, raising the hopes of fans around the world that they would have the opportunity to see the band in action once more.
It's the Aussie faithful's turn to have those hopes realised as the veteran power-trio have announced they will make their return to Australian shores for the first time since 2008 this year, lining up three east-coast capital headline shows for their visit; they kick off at Max Watt's, in Melbourne, on Tuesday 5 July, heading up the coast to Sydney's Manning Bar on Wednesday 6 July and rounding out in sunny Queensland, at Brisbane's Max Watt's venue on Thursday 7 July.
The Fall Of Troy enjoyed prodigious amounts of buzz during their original stint from 2002 through 2010. In that time, they released four studio albums — including breakout sophomore Doppelganger in 2005 — toured the world, and asserted themselves as one of the most exciting, challenging and unconventional bands to emerge during the boom in mid-2000s post-hardcore and surrounds, eventually splitting following the release of their fourth album, 2009's In The Unlikely Event. They reconvened originally in 2013 for a three-night reunion stint revisiting their first three albums, ultimately announcing in January 2014 that they would be returning to making music together.
That hotly anticipated fifth album has been confirmed but is yet to see the light of day, while The Fall Of Troy spent much of 2015 touring in support of Doppelganger's 10th anniversary. With the Aussie shows following so soon after that commemorative run, it's not an outrageous stretch to imagine that local fans should be treated to a pretty heavy serve of 2005-era delights intermixed with fierce jams from throughout The Fall Of Troy's colourful history.
