The Mansfield boys have ascended the mountain at last with their fourth long-player

More Violent Soho More Violent Soho

Beloved Brisbane rockers Violent Soho have made history (as expected) with their fourth studio album WACO, nabbing their first-ever ARIA #1 — on debut, no less — this week.

The Mansfield-based four-piece was the highest new entry on the ARIA Top 100 Albums chart by a solid few places, though top-10 spots also went to fellow fresh faces (well, so to speak) Gwen Stefani, whose comeback LP This Is What The Truth Feels Like makes its debut at #6, and Iggy Pop, just behind her at #7 with Post Pop Depression. Stalwart Aussie outfit The Drones also see chart time for Feelin Kinda Free for the first time this week, stepping out inside the top 20 at #12.

Not far outside the first cutoff are West Australian hip-hop/jazz/funk/fusion crew Koi Child, with their self-titled debut album emerging at #25, while Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice's soundtrack is solid if nothing else, entering at #34.

Soho's victory this week knocks previous #1 Matt Corby off the podium to #2 for Telluric this week, while the Molly soundtrack remains unmoved at #3. Also steady is Adele's 25, still at #4, while Hilltop Hoods enjoy a one-spot bump to Drinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung, up to #5 this week. Also up is Justin Bieber, whose Purpose is two spots stronger than last week to hit #8, while both Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (This Unruly Mess I've Made) and Jeff Buckley (You & I) suffer respective tumbles of two and eight places to #9 and #10.

There are fewer debutantes in the upper rungs of the Singles stakes, where Lukas Graham remains atop the pile at #1 with 7 Years. Alan Walker (Faded, #2) also stays steady despite the best efforts of northward-bound Fifth Harmony, whose Work From Home (ft. Ty Dolla $ign) is up three spots to #3 this week. Hilltop Hoods aren't so lucky, though, being displaced to #4 with 1955 (ft. Montaigne & Tom Thum) and taking twenty one pilots down a notch with them (Stressed Out, #5).

However, the top 20 singles do see some strong climbers: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Dance Off (ft. Idris Elba & Anderson Paak) jumps seven places to #7; Mike Posner's I Took A Pill In Ibiza is up five spots to #12; Meghan Trainor's No rises seven to #13; and Ariana Grande's Dangerous Woman leaps four to settle on the #20 mark — the same week that her new single Be Alright makes the week's highest single debut, way down the list at #52.
