Taste Return For One Show With Celebrated Original Drummer Virgil Donati

Infamous '70s Melbourne rockers Taste have reformed and will be unveiling their new album Life On Earth next week in Melbourne — but the real kicker, the hometown performance will feature their original and now highly-sought-after drummer Virgil Donati behind the kit.

The launch show will also work to celebrate the band's new single and video for I Am God, with Donati stating of the upcoming show, "Ken Murdoch, Joey Amenta and Michael Tortoni are my musical brothers and I can't wait to get back on stage to play some of the songs that started this incredible journey."

The band reformed recently with new drummer Damian Corniola, who recorded Life On Earth with the band last year.

Taste were a short-lived flame in the '70s but they burned bright — formed when they were still teenagers, the band were on the road to open for Queen, had appeared multiple times on Countdown and Bandstand and were the youngest artists on Warner Music at the time. The band broke up in 1979 just as they were signing with Sire Records in the States, with their blockbuster single Boys Will Be Boys still the song on everyone's radios.

Taste will be joined at the Ding Dong Lounge on 25 March with Waleed Aly's band Robot Child, with doors opening at 8pm.
