"This clown is not monkeyin' around, okay. I got better jokes for you."

Following her highly-publicised tardiness to her Thursday night 'Tears Of A Clown' show in Melbourne, during which she was five hours late to stage because she was rehearsing, pop queen Madonna has addressed that her performance could have been better that night.

Between songs at Saturday night's Rod Laver Arena show, Madonna stopped to tell fans that someone named Marvin — reportedly one of her dancers — sent her a text message with some criticism.

"The thing is, it's the only criticism I got, it was from him," Madonna explained. "He said I should've been funnier and I should've been more confident.

"Anyway, he's right. He COULD be right. The possibility is that he might be right."

Madonna went on to confirm her lack of rehearsal for the Thursday night show, during which she stopped and started her performance numerous times. She also announced she'd be returning to Australia with the comedy/music/storytelling show in 2019 with "better jokes".

"I only had two days to rehearse and when I come back to Australia next month… next month of the year 2019, I'm gonna do it better for you, I promise, okay. This clown is not monkeyin' around, okay. I got better jokes for you."

Fans will enjoy a much shorter wait for Madonna when she returns in 2019 — this month's Rebel Heart tour was 23 years in the making.
