Investigation ongoing.
Eagles co-founder Randy Meisner has been cleared of murder after his wife of 20 years was tragically shot at the couple's home in Studio City, California, overnight.
According to CNN, Lana Meisner died from a single gunshot wound after she attempted to move a rifle in a case stored in a closet.
The Los Angeles Department said in a statement, "As she lifted the rifle in the case, another item within the case shifted and hit the trigger of the rifle causing it to fire and fatally injure Mrs. Meisner."
TMZ report that the death occurred just an hour and a half after Lana Meisner called the police to report domestic violence, with claims that her husband was waiving a BB gun and "acting erratically".

A second phone call was made to the police by Randy Meisner just before 7am who advised authorities that he had heard a gun shot go off in another room.
Police believe the rifle was discharged inside the case and the trajectory of the bullet was enough for them to rule out the former Eagles bassist's involvement in her death.
It has been reported that Randy Meisner "was cooperative throughout the investigation".
This is not the first time the 69-year-old musician has been involved in controversial circumstances.
As Rolling Stone reports, Meisner was last year placed under court-ordered 24-hour supervision for allegedly threatening murder-suicide with a weapon and pills.
According to medical reports from a California hospital, Meisner had "threatened to gun everyone down with an AK-47."
Meisner left the Eagles in 1977 and is best known as the co-writer and singer of the band's hit song, Take It To The Limit.
The news comes just under two months after fellow founding member of the Eagles, Glenn Frey, passed away.
