Tame Impala Bag Best International Group At BRIT Awards

Hometown heroes Tame Impala have picked up the coveted BRIT Award this morning for Best International Group, facing up against strong competition like Major Lazer and U2.

As The Mirror reports, the Perth rockers accepted their award at London's O2 Arena with "It's already amazing to be invited, let alone be given an award to accept."

The band, with their critically-acclaimed latest record Currents, were up against Grammy-winning Alabama Shakes, Major Lazer, Eagles Of Death Metal and U2.

Our girl Courtney Barnett also scored a nod at the BRIT Awards for International Female Solo Artist, going up against Bjork, Ariana Grande, Lana Del Ray and Meghan Trainor, though Bjork took the award home.

Elsewhere, pop queen Adele picked up the most awards of the night so far, taking home British Album Of The Year with 25, British Single with Hello and British Female Solo Artist. Her fourth nomination, the crowd-voted British Artist Video Of The Year for Hello, was taken out by One Direction.

Kiwi pop starlet Lorde also took to the stage to perform a David Bowie tribute.
