Plus top-half Singles results for Tim Minchin and Vance Joy
Stalwart Sydney outfit The Jezabels have claimed the #1 spot on this week's Carlton Dry Independent Music Charts with their new album, Synthia.
The entry has a flow-on effect across the upper echelon, sending last week's respective top four — Sia's This Is Acting, RUFUS' Bloom, Vance Joy's Dream Your Life Away and Adam Brand & The Outlaws' self-titled full-length — down one rung each to fill the #2-#5 bracket.
Though far and away the week's highest debut, The Jezabels' album is not the only new face in the Albums chart, with Henry Wagons making a splash at #16 with After What I Did Last Night.... Regardless, it's a week for familiar friends in the LP stakes, with strong performances also coming from Courtney Barnett (Sometimes I Sit & Think, & Sometimes I Just Sit, #6), The Rubens (Hoops, #7), Sia (1000 Forms Of Fear, #8), the Hilltop Hoods (Walking Under Stars, #9) and The Wiggles (Wiggle Town!, #10). Down the ladder a spell, Jimmy Barnes' 30:30 Hindsight makes its re-entry at the #20 cutoff.
There's a bit more activity in terms of singles this week, where veteran funnyman Tim Minchin has a notable impact with his politically charged cut Come Home (Cardinal Pell), which steps out at #2, coming in just behind incumbent #1 Flume (Never Be Like You, ft. Kai). The ever-reliable Vance Joy also welcomes a debut effort this week, with new track Straight Into Your Arms making its entry at #8, one rung ahead of resilient single Fire & The Flood (Joy also appears a third time with the evergreen Riptide at #20 in its 84th week).

Finally, Hottest 100 winners The Rubens see new single Hold Me Back make its debut at a modest #16, while their countdown-winning track, Hoops, is down a spot to #5. The spots between the indie darlings and Minchin are filled by the Hilltop Hoods (1955, ft. Montaigne & Tom Thum, #3) and Sia (Cheap Thrills, #4).
