Acca-dacca are looking to give fledgling Aussie artists a leg up with their Let There Be Rock Fund, powered by - what else - booze
Australian rock legends AC/DC have today announced the launch of AC/DC Bourbon & Cola, a limited-edition line of beverages to coincide with their Let There Be Rock Fund competition to help fledgling Australian music artists.
After their Australian tour wrapped up last year, the iconic rock band has lent their influence in the scene to a new initiative that invites the nation’s music industry and fans of AC/DC to hand-pick and help give Australian musicians their big break in the industry.
The AC/DC Bourbon & Cola is a designer range of collectible cans to represent AC/DC’s illustrious catalogue of album covers and are to be released exclusively and periodically over 2016 with the first can off the shelf to feature the band’s 17th album, Rock Or Bust, which reached #1 across 12 countries.
The campaign running alongside the collectible cans promotion — and more importantly for Australian music — is the Let There Be Rock Fund, set to launch in March.
The initiative invites new, up-and-coming music talent from across the country to, wait for it, cover an AC/DC song in whatever style or genre they please — jazz-fusion Thunderstruck, anyone? — for a chance to enter a draw to win prizes and an opportunity to experience bigger and better things within the industry machine.
Also with this campaign, consumers of the AC/DC Bourbon & Cola will be given the chance to win a swag of gifts, including signed Gibson SG Specials, via social media participation in the lamentably named #showusurcans hashtag.
A ‘portion of the proceeds’ from sales of the limited edition AC/DC collectible cans are to go directly towards the LTBR Fund to grow in value over the duration of the campaign.
