Police Search For Missing Melbourne Musician

Victorian police are appealing for public assistance to locate Melbourne musician Karl Von-Bamberger who was reported as missing last week. 

A statement released on Friday by police explains that Von-Bamberger, 37, was last seen leaving a residence on High Street in Coburg at around 6.30pm last Wednesday. 

"Police and Karl’s family are concerned for his welfare due to him suffering from a medical condition and his disappearance being out of character," the statement reads.

"He is known to frequent the Coburg and Brunswick areas…Karl is described as Caucasian, 170cm tall with dark hair, a solid build and fair complexion. He was last seen wearing a red checker shirt, black jeans, black jacket, silver-framed glasses and carrying a grey backpack."

According to the Australian Missing Persons Register Facebook page, Von-Bamberger intended to see a friend in Fitzroy. 

"Around 6:30pm he left a friends house and to return home, and rang his best friend who he regulary visits to inform him he would be on his way over by tram and foot from Coburg to Fitzroy. (His bike was damaged). He anticipated to be there after this 7:40pm conversation but never arrived," the post reads.

"His friend and others tried to call him later than evening wondering what had happened as this was totally out of character. Other friends, unaware of his disappearance also tried to call him and his phone was switched off/flat/in airplane mode - not receiving calls. There has been no contact since the 7:40pm call."

Meanwhile, friends of Von-Bamberger are appealing for any help as to his whereabouts through a Facebook page and have distributed missing posters around the surrounding areas. 

Von-Bamberger has performed in several local bands including Mad Nanna, Secret Valley, A Band Called Life and Eli & Bev.
