Well we didn't see that coming.
Though it was one of their first live shows together in four years, Aussie instrumental band Dirty Three stunned those in attendance at the Sugar Mountain festival on Saturday when Warren Ellis hinted that the band will be going on hiatus.
Towards the end of their set at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, the violinist told the crowd, "We're going to put the Dirty Three to bed for a while after tonight."
The trio have kept themselves busy outside of the band since their inception in 1992 and though they performed yesterday to a packed-out crowd, it would appear that there are no immediate future plans for Dirty Three.
The group's last studio album came in 2012 with their eighth offering, Toward The Low Sun.
