"We turn to the fans for all major decision making, so why should this be any different?"

Legion Festival are chugging along in meeting their mammoth $3.27 million crowdfunding goal, but in the meantime, have announced their commitment to local heavy bands in the form of a partnership with GiggedIn.

GiggedIn, a new live music subscription that allows you to attend up to 20 shows a week for $35 per month, will run a competition for heavy local acts to compete for a slot on the festival, creating an even playing field through voting.

It's free to submit an application with six slots each in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and one band each from Adelaide and Perth, with applicants judged by industry professionals (such as our National Print Editor, Mark Neilsen!), record label execs and Legion founder John Sankey himself.

Sankey says, "We made a commitment to support local bands and the local industry and we meant it. We turn to the fans for all major decision making, so why should this be any different?"
