A Brisbane theatre company introduce Australian-first theatre-on-demand initiative.

Today Studio Theatre & Cafe launched an Australian-first theatre-on-demand initiative.

The initiative will commence with Once In My Life, a multimedia-cabaret production about the life of Frank Sinatra. Theatre-goers will be able to book seats for any day, any time at the Box Office.

The theatre will have cast and crew on "continual standby", while there is a minimum audience capacity of ten people to ensure the venture is "viable".

Venue manager Damien Lee said in a statement: "With the rise of Netflix, Stan, and new services from the likes of Foxtel, we understand that people want to be entertained when it's convenient for them. Even traditional media like radio, TV and newspapers, are now streaming content for their audiences to engage with at their leisure. It's important for Live Theatre to keep pace with these trends."
