"You have spoken (shouted!) and we have heard"
Fledgling heavy-music festival Legion — the brainchild of Devil You Know drummer John Sankey and a growing army of supporters — is making good on its promise to keep local music high on the priority list.
Showing that there's more substance than mere style to their words, Sankey and Legion HQ have announced that next year's inaugural event will not just boast several emerging and established Aussie acts, but an entire dedicated stage's worth of 'em.
Although the organisers are still pulling together the line-up for the event, which sprung up late last week from the ashes of Soundwave's protracted demise, it is already clear that fan demand for locally sourced music is a significant influencing factor for the Legion crew in how to proceed.
"You have spoken (shouted!) and we have heard," Sankey and his fellow organisers wrote in a statement on the event's website. "The massive amount of requests for local Aussie heavy acts to be added to the bill this week has been just ridiculous. So, the team today decided to do something about it.

"More info to come as we finalise the overall line-up and gather more details, but we are proud to confirm that we have now added an additional stage to the festival that will give local Australian and emerging acts an opportunity to perform.
"We will announce soon how bands can apply so stay tuned."
Legion organisers are still working on launching the event's crowdfunding campaign to ensure this can all go ahead — keep an eye on the Legion website and right here at theMusic.com.au to keep on top of when and how you can throw your weight behind the initiative and give local heavy music fans what they bloody well deserve.
