US rock band L7 have officially announced they will not be performing at Soundwave 2016, amidst speculation that next year's festival is in serious jeopardy.

Taking to their official Facebook page earlier today the band said, "Due to circumstances beyond our control, L7 will not be performing at this year's Soundwave Festival."

"Believe us when we say that we are as disappointed as you are. We will try our damnedest to get to you in 2016, maybe even club shows as many of you have requested."

Yesterday, Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah alleged that the future of next year's festival is in the hands of ticketing company Eventopia and on Twitter claimed that the company had cancelled scheduled funds designated for the festival.

"Essentially here are the brief facts: Eventopia were supposed to give SW a scheduled advance to pay deposits to NOFX and BMTH..." Maddah wrote.

"...Their CFO changed her mind and decided not make the advance but didn't tell anyone. so we (SW & bands) waited and waited for $...If they had informed us that scheduled funds were cancelled we could have made other arrangements. So now we are in bad situation..."

Eventopia have since responded to Maddah's claims on Twitter and said, "we don't have any say in whether the 2016 festival goes ahead".

In response to a user who accused the company of a delay in ticket arrivals they said, "this related to a printing error which has been rectified and is unrelated to the sustainability of the 2016 festival".

Maddah's claims come on the back of his response to SW16 act NOFX who seemingly announced that the festival had been cancelled.

Earlier this week, Maddah confirmed that not only would Soundwave 2017 not be taking place. but that Soundwave's touring arm, Soundwave Touring would be folding as well.
