Piknic Électronik To Return To Australia In 2016 For Two Full Seasons

Opening 17 January, Piknic Électronik is returning for a second season in Melbourne’s Federation Square, as well as bringing its distinct sounds to Sydney Park for the first time (from 10 January), for over 24 world-class electronic music shows, every Sunday this summer. 

Out of Montreal, Canada, Piknic Électronik — and the way in which its programming is organised — knows how to roll out shows to please both the electronic enthusiast and the newcomer, providing a unique residency destined for the Australian scene at an all-ages day party in an open-air park environment for families over three months, truly giving something Australian fans have not yet witnessed.

“We are very excited to come back for a second year in Melbourne and to introduce Piknic Électronik to the city of Sydney for the first time," Piknic Électronik co-founder and chief executive Pascal Lefebvre said in a statement. "Australia particularly is a great fit for our unique concept and we believe Piknic Électronik will rapidly find its audience and grow like it has in Montreal and Barcelona.”

For Sydney, local support from Simon Caldwell, Cassette and Maybe D will accompany Piknic as well Matt Radovich, Myles Mac, Citipower DJs; Ryan Elliot, Robag Wruhme and Sonja Moonear will perform later in the season at Melbourne’s Fed Square. Both venues have been thoughtfully selected due to the ease of accessibility by public transport.

Piknic Électronik has always fostered a family-friendly event that thinks not only of mums and dads but the little tykes, providing space for children on-site called Petit Piknic, designated for activities for them to enjoy also.

Entry into Piknic Électronik starts at $15 and free for kids under 12. A full line-up of the event schedule is to be expected out on 5 January. Sydney's inaugural Piknic Électronik will run from 10 January to 27 March; Melbourne's sophomore season kicks off 17 January, through 3 April.
