Eagles Of Death Metal Return To Paris For First Performance Since Shootings

It was reported over the weekend that US band Eagles Of Death Metal were set to return to Paris for the first time since the tragic terror attacks three weeks ago and the group made good on that promise as they joined Irish act U2 on stage at the French capital's AccorHotels Arena last night. 

As Consequence Of Sound reported, the band were introduced to the 20,000 punters in attendance by U2 singer Bono who said, "They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago, so we would like to offer them ours tonight."

Led by frontman Jesse Hughes, EODM came out to a huge ovation and performed a cover of Patti Smith's People Have The Power alongside U2, before they were graciously given the stage to themselves to perform their own track, I Love You All The Time.

"Thank you so much. We love you so good, we hope you know this," Hughes said at the conclusion of the set.

"Thank you Paris, we love you and we will never give up rockin' and rollin'."

It was also reported over the weekend that the band plan to recommence their European tour after it was unsurprisingly halted following the Bataclan hall shootings. 

89 concert-goers were gunned down in the siege, which included EODM's merchandise seller, Nick Alexander.

In an interview with Vice a few weeks ago, Hughes expressed his desire to return to the venue where the horrific attacks took place. 

"I want to be the first band to play in the Bataclan when it opens back up because I was there when it went silent for a minute," Hughes said.

"Our friends went there to see rock'n'roll and died. I'm going to go back there and live."

UPDATE: Taking to Facebook earlier today, EODM thanked U2 and their fans in Paris for the overwhelming support in recent weeks. 

"We are incredibly grateful to U2 for providing us the opportunity to return to Paris so quickly, and to share in the healing power of rock ‘n roll with so many of the beautiful people – nos amis – of this great city," the statement read.

"We look forward to fighting the good fight on many more fronts very soon, especially when we pick up our tour in 2016."
