The numbers weren't pretty.
It was a big night for Australian music at last night's ARIA Awards, but now that the dust has settled it appears that it wasn't as big of a hit with TV audiences around the country, with ratings showing a huge drop from last year's ceremony.
According to TV Tonight, even the pulling power of UK mega-star Ed Sheeran wasn't enough as the 2015 ARIAs drew an audience of 461,000 on the Ten Network, a far cry from last year's figures of 570,000.
The red carpet broadcast pulled in even poorer numbers, drawing an audience of just 406,000.
To be fair it was a slow night for Australian TV last night, with no program on any network cracking an audience of one million, though out of the top 20, the ARIAs finished at #18, while the red carpet finished last at #20.

There was one positive to come out of the broadcast however, as the show topped the 16-39 demographic, alongside fellow Ten show, The Project.
While the figures were low, it still surpassed ratings from 2013 (337,000), 2012 (304,000) and 2011 (369,000).
