"The total concept for the new event including the 'name' is being refined over the next couple of months..."

Announcing the end of Narooma's long-running Great Southern Blues Festival this August, festival promoter Neil Mumme has today stepped up to the plate with some good news — the event will return, albeit as a whole new exciting event, in 2016.

The promoter stated, "We are pleased to announce that we will be back in 2016 partnering with the Narooma Oyster Festival in a totally new and exciting event on October 1st and 2nd.

"The total concept for the new event including the 'name' is being refined over the next couple of months and we will keep you updated early in the New Year."

The statement confirmed that they will be striving for music "of the highest standard we have ever delivered", though at a new festival site with a single concert stage.

"The music component that we present will be of the highest standard we have ever delivered albeit on a single concert stage. There will be a stand alone concert on the Saturday night with a very, very special act, and then a series of acts presented on the Sunday."

Back in August, Mumme cited reasons such as "expectations, the proliferation of festivals, compliance issues" as the reason for pulling the plug, though he assured they were "exploring new ideas and options for 'Narooma' going forward."
