Emma Donovan also picked up multiple awards
Continuing her conquering of the rock world, Courtney Barnett has taken out four of the five awards she was nominated for at last night's The Age Music Victoria Awards, among them Best Song and Best Album.
Barnett picked up the gong for Best Song with Depreston, though Pedestrian At Best was also nominated in the same category. She also scored nods for Best Female, going up against Mojo Juju and Jess Ribeiro, and Best Band, going up against King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Twerps and Totally Mild.
Other major winners of the night included bluesman C.W. Stoneking winning the award for Best Male, punk lads The Smith Street Band winning Best Live Band, ocker rockers Cosmic Psychos winning Best Regional Act and Golden Plains picking up the gong for Best Festival. Other than Barnett, Emma Donovan and Raised By Eagles both picked up multiple awards — Donovan for Best Soul, Funk, R'n'B And Gospel Album with The Putbacks and one for Best Indigenous Act, and Raised By Eagles for Best Emerging Artist and Best Country Album.
Awards aside, Barnett, Harts, Marlon Williams, Briggs, Ecca Vandal and more all delivered stellar performances at the packed out 170 Russell.
