Elvis Presley Compilation Blocks Tina Arena From First #1 Album Debut In 18 Years

After being announced last month as the 2015 ARIA Hall Of Fame inductee, it was set to be a fairytale finish to the year for Tina Arena who was set to score her first #1 album in 18 years, however she has been beaten to the punch at the last minute by the new Elvis Presley compilation. 

The Victorian-born singer's new album Eleven has debuted on this week's ARIA Albums Chart at #2, just behind the late Presley's If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra which finished in the top spot. 

The placings rob Arena of a third #1 album in her career, with the latest coming from 1997's In Deep, though she won't be too disheartened by the news as the album marks her highest debut since her 2007 album, Songs Of Love And Loss which finished at #3.

Meanwhile, Arena has also this week been announced as one of the exclusive performers at this year's ARIA Awards. 

Meanwhile UK heavyweights Def Leppard's new self-titled record has placed at #4, just behind triple j's Like A Version compilation at #3 and just ahead of Taylor Swift's acclaimed 1989, which has rounded out the top five and maintained its position in the chart after an astounding 54 weeks.

Rounding out this week's album debuts include Escape The Fate with Hate Me (#32) and The Neighbourhood's Wiped Out! (#57).

Over on the Singles Chart UK singer Adele has maintained the #1 spot with her latest track Hello, while pop mega-star Justin Bieber also retained the #2 spot with Sorry.

US singer Ariana Grande's Focus debuted this week at #10 and producer David Guetta's Bang My Head, featuring rapper Fetty Wap and Aussie artist Sia came in at #33.
