The Australian megachurch makes good on its midweek promise/deal with God
Aussie megachurch Hillsong has seen its Hillsong Worship ensemble take out the top spot on this week's ARIA Albums Chart — as expected midweek — with new studio album Open Heaven/River Wild.
The entry slots in just ahead of triple j's incumbent second-placeholder triple j's Like A Version 11, which separates Hillsong and the next-highest new faces, starting with Demi Lovato and Confident, stepping out at #3. Just below her, Jamie Lawson's self-titled makes its entry at #4, while Pentatonix's eponymous release eases into the top-five cutoff at #5.
The four acts are the only ones to make an appearance inside the top 20 this week, with Nothing But Thieves (another self-titled release) still making the top 30 at #27, while State Champs' Around The World & Back falls just outside at #31. A bit further down, OMI makes his entry with Me 4 U at #37, Machine Gun Kelly at #38 with General Admission, and buzzworthy upstart Raury, making his ARIA Chart debut at #46 with All We Need. Both Lorde (Pure Heroine, #44) and Matchbox 20 (Yourself Or Someone Like You — Again, #41) enjoy re-entries this week, while Ed Sheeran (+, up to #18 from #26) and INXS (The Very Best, up to #17 from #39) make significant leaps up the ladder.
In the Singles stakes, One Direction make the week's highest new entry by a long shot, hitting #4 with Perfect — the next-highest comes from Zara Larsson & MNEK's Never Forget You, making its debut at #31 — but incumbent entries are making northern headway all over the place; although Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Downtown (featuring Eric Nally, Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee & Grandmaster Caz) remains in top spot, Drake's newly clipped Hotline Bling is up three spots to #2 and The Weeknd's The Hills climbs from #10 to #3. Additionally, Duke Dumont's Ocean Drive sees a healthy spike to #17 (from #33) this week, while Fetty Wap's 679 (featuring Remy Boyz) jumps inside the top 20, hitting #19 from #27 last week.

However, that's not to discount some of the other tracks making debuts a little further down the list — Troye Sivan's excellent Take Me Down is on the chart at #36, just ahead of Chet Faker & Marcus Marr's The Trouble With Us (#37), also gathering swift momentum on the airwaves.
