A killer line-up of post-punk bands
In a triple-threat bill of pure indie rock royalty, the lovely folks at A Day On The Green have combined their powers to pull together seminal '80s Sydney rockers Hoodoo Gurus, along with similarly influential post-punkers Sunnyboys and American alt rockers Violent Femmes to tour the country next March under our blistering sun (sorry).
A Day On The Green, set to hit wineries around the country, also features mainstays Died Pretty and Sydney rockers Ratcat, all kicking off their boozed run around the country at Bimbadgen Winery in Hunter Valley on Saturday, 5 March, before heading to Mt Cotton's Sirromet Wines, Yarra Valley's Rochford Wines, Launceston's Josef Chromy Wines and finally Perth's Kings Park & Botanic Garden.
All three headline acts formed in the post-punk era of the early '80s and appear equally as stoked to be touring togething next year. Dave Faulkner of the Hoodoo Gurus says, "Sunnyboys, Violent Femmes and Hoodoo Gurus? Yeah, we go way back … Flash forward a couple of years: Hoodoo Gurus have a record contract and we happen to be on the same label as the Violent Femmes, the Femmes even taking the place of The Gurus at our Stoneage Romeos launch after I contracted laryngitis - how cool was that?! I loved the Sunnyboys and Violent Femmes music then - and I still do now."
Brian Ritchie of Violent Femmes also offers, "We think the bill is complementary and elegant and are proud to be part of it," while Peter Oxley of Sunnyboys says, "Very excited to be touring with such a great line-up of really great bands. I’ll be dancing in the wings."
