Jenny Morris Set To Reveal How Health Issues 'Cut Her Career Short'

ARIA award-winning singer and veteran performer Jenny Morris is set to make a dramatic personal revelation on next week’s ABC program, Australian Story.

The New Zealand-born songwriter will for the first time reveal a life-changing medical condition which cut her career short.

"I've never talked about it publicly, and I think putting the word out there is going to give a sense of relief," Morris said.

“That’s why I'm doing Australian Story because I think if you want to know what’s what, look at this program. Then I don’t have to explain it.”

Her sister and fellow singer Shanley Del revealed that Morris’ condition began ten years ago.

"It was evident that Jenny wanted to just play it down until she knew what was going on," Del said.

Morris, 59, relocated to Australia in the early ‘1980s where she toured with iconic act INXS as a backing singer (and later recorded a cover of the song Jackson with frontman Michael Hutchence) before finding success with trio QED.

She later established herself as a solo singer with hits such as Body & Soul, You I Know and She Has To Be Loved.

Morris has earned much respect in the music industry with many years active service on the board of APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association).

The episode will air across Australia on Monday 12 October from 8pm, which will also be introduced by national acting legend, Hugo Weaving.
