Courtney Barnett Leads ARIA Noms With Eight, Hermitude Score Seven

Melbourne's world-conquering Courtney Barnett has dominated this year's ARIA Awards nominations announced in Sydney today.
Barnett has picked up eight nominations across categories like Album Of The Year, Best Female Artist and Best Rock Album, as well as actually scoring the ARIA for Best Cover Art today in the Artisan Award sector.
Blue Mountains electronic duo Hermitude were just behind Barnett, picking up seven nominations for categories such as Album Of The Year, Best Group, Best Independent Release and Producer Of The Year. Let's not forget that the lads already picked up a #1 ARIA chart spot for their most recent release, Dark Night Sweet Light, earlier this year.
Vance Joy, too, scored seven noms for Album Of The Year, Best Male Artist, Best Pop Release and Best Video, while Tame Impala just followed behind with six noms for categories like Album Of The Year, Best Group and Best Rock Album. Kevin Parker also cleaned up in the Artisan Awards, picking up the ARIA for Producer Of The Year and Engineer Of The Year for Currents.

Plenty of others will be vying for an ARIA too — acts like In Hearts Wake, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Sheppard and Rüfüs scored a few nods, while internationals such as Hozier, James Bay and Taylor Swift picked up nominations in the Best International Artist category.
