Courtney Barnett And Tame Impala's Kevin Parker Win Big At Pre-ARIA Awards Event

Australia (and the world)'s favourite slack-rocker Courtney Barnett has picked up her first ever ARIA Award today at the ARIA Nominations event in Sydney, for the album art of Sometimes I Sit And Think, Sometimes I Just Sit

Other nominees in the Best Cover Art category in the larger Artisan Awards sect of the ARIA Awards included Daniel Johns for Talk and Timothy Lovett of Flight Facilities for Down To Earth

Other Artisan Awards winners announced were led by Perth stalwart Kevin Parker (Tame Impala). He won both Engineer Of The Year and Producer Of The Year for Currents, beating out noms for Hermitude, Gang Of Youths and Daniel Johns.

The Nominations event also announced the winners of the Fine Arts ARIA Awards, which went to Tamara-Anna Cislowska & Peter Sculthorpe for their Complete Works For Solo Piano in the Best Classical Album category, while Barney McAll took out Best Jazz Album with Mooroolbark

Triple j's Beat The Drum compilation Celebrating 40 Years Of Triple J won the Best Original Soundtrack/Cast/Show Album ARIA while Gurrumul took out the Best World Music Album ARIA with The Gospel Album, winning over Baby Et Lulu (Album Deux) and Christine Anu (Island Christmas).
