Chris Brown Wants To Come To Australia 'To Raise Awareness About Domestic Violence'

US singer Chris Brown has officially spoken out about his proposed ban from Australia, taking to Twitter earlier today to say that he would like to come to Australia 'to raise awareness of domestic violence'.

After it was announced on Sunday that Immigration Minister Peter Dutton had issued a Notice of Intention to Consider Refusal of Brown's visa, the R&B artist responded with a series of tweets to suggest his visit to the country could have a positive impact. 

"I would be more than grateful to come to Australia to raise awareness about domestic violence," Brown tweeted. 

"Im not the pink elephant in the room anymore".

Brown also suggested his past mistakes, specifically the 2009 assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna, can serve as a lesson to others. 

"My life mistakes should be a wake up call for everyone. Showing the world that mistakes don't define you."

"The power that we have as Entertainers can change lives."

The rapper's comments come in the wake of a new petition being launched, which is calling for Dutton to overturn his decision and allow Brown in the country. 

The 26-year-old musician now has 28 days to appeal the decision.

Tickets for his Australian shows are reportedly selling quickly, though there is still some doubt if the concerts will even go ahead. 

An official statement from tour promoters, Castor & Ford Tours, announced that there was no current update on Brown's visa.

"We have no updates on Chris Brown’s NZ visa application but if the concert does not go ahead as planned, any tickets sold, as with any other show, will be fully refunded," the statement read.
