More controversy surrounds the R&B artist.

US R&B artist Chris Brown has reportedly been named in an assault investigation  after a woman has claimed that she was "forcibly thrown" off the singer's tour bus in Colorado this week.

As TMZ reports, the alleged incident occurred on Monday outside a strip club in Denver where Brown was shooting a music video with rappers French Montana and Fetty Wap.

The woman, who was not part of the production of the music video, claims she was thrown off the bus after refusing to hand over her cell phone, due to the fact that there was a strict "no cell phones" policy in place so no footage of the clip could be leaked — she has also claimed that her phone was broken during the incident.

It has been reported that the woman has filed a report for third degree assault to law enforcement and that Brown and his entourage are "persons of interest."

It's believed that police are currently seeking an interview with Brown and his crew, after obtaining surveillance footage of the incident — see below for the clip.

Brown was famously charged with felony assault in 2009 when he physically attacked his then-girlfriend and pop singer Rihanna. He was later sentenced  to community labour, five years probation and was also given a restraining order which required him to stay away from Rihanna.

He took to Twitter this morning to address the investigation. See the two tweets below.

The news comes just a day after the controversial rapper announced an Australian tour this December.

Amid speculation that the 26-year-old artist will be denied entry into New Zealand, national MP Judith Collins has backed the call.

As Stuff reports, Collins said on the Paul Henry Show political program last night, "We've got enough wife-beaters in this country, he should just bugger off."

Labour MP Phil Goff who was also on last night's panel echoed Collins' comments, saying, "He not only viciously beat his then-partner Rihanna, he actually shows no remorse about it - why would we want him here?"

Brown is scheduled to bring his One Hell Of A Nite Tour to the country for a string of arena shows with special guest August Alsina.
