In an effort to capture and bring the beauty and vibes of European festivals to a local venue, new WA three-day camping festival Disconnect has announced its inaugural line-up, boasting international talent Father John Misty, local legend Chet Faker and heaps more.

The three-day music, arts, comedy, burlesque (the list goes on) festival will setup Friday 11 December an hour south of Perth at the picturesque Fairbridge Village in Pinjarra over four stages, the main being Darling Range Amphitheatre which will sit at the bottom of a natural hillside.

The first artist announcement for this year’s event is:

Chet Faker, Flight Facilities, Father John Misty, Neon Indian, Mercury Rev, Meg Mac, The Jungle Giants, Tkay Maidza, Goat, Optimo, Julia Holter, Bully, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Abbe May, Felicity Groom, Tired Lion, Slum Sociable, Ruby Boots, Methyl Ethel, Command Q, Woodes, Akouo, Jessica Pratt, Lilt, All My Exes Live In Texas, Joni In The Moon, Grrl Pal, Spire, Helen Shanahan

There will also be 200-seat acoustic venue The Chapel, a Secret Garden hangout area and multi-story late-night party zone Club House, which will also host bands.

The Mess Hall will host breakfast and coffee (the driving force behind any multi-day event), as well as comedy, Bogan Bingo and more. And it’s also a kid-friendly shindig, with a bunch of family-orientated activities on the program as well as sports (mini golf, basketball, tennis, volleyball and more) at The Sanctuary.

Is it just us, or is this starting to sound like some sort of self-sustaining utopian village? Three days might not be enough.

There will also be food markets, relaxation areas and more.

The music aspect of the bill has a healthy balance of local, national and international bands spamming a range of genres, securing US headliners Father John Misty, Neon Indian and Mercury Rev as well as local buzz bands Tired Lion and Methyl Ethel and Aussie wave makers Tkay Maidza, Meg Mac. It’s a mixed bill, but fits the location and vibe of the festival perfectly.

It will also be Chet Faker, Flight Facilities and Father John Misty’s only WA shows this summer.

Camping is included in the ticket price and earlybird sales go live at the end of the week, with general public sales available Tuesday at 9am WA time via Ticketbooth. Punters will be able to camp next to their vehicle too.
