With a little help from his mates

More The Jezabels More The Jezabels

The Australian creative community is once more rallying behind unjustly embattled AFL star Adam Goodes, this time providing the populace with a very prominent way with which to display their support for the two-time Brownlow Medallist and 2014 Australian Of The Year in the form of a new charity T-shirt.

The With Goodesy campaign was launched by The Jezabels guitarist Sam Lockwood and a group of friends who were "dismay[ed]" by the recent treatment of Goodes to the point of actually doing something about it, and comes as a collaboration between Lockwood's collective and Torres Strait Islander artist Zac Bennett-Brock, who created the design.

"This painting has the little circular designs which are meeting place symbols," Bennett-Brock explained of his artwork in a statement.

"Throughout life, we meet people at different places such as work, sport games and events, through hobbies etc and from there we form connections and relationships with people that are represented through the meeting place symbol.

"From those groups, we make other connections in life, which is represented through the large dots that connect each of the different groups/meeting places."

Those wanting to purchase a With Goodesy shirt can feel extra-good about their decision too, with all proceeds from sales of the apparel going to the Go Foundation, founded by Goodes and Michael O'Loughlin, which focuses on empowering young Indigenous Australians and improving their prospects through better education and mentoring opportunities.

In addition, Indigenous organisation YARN Australia will host a series of yarn circles (public workshops) in order to engage in some constructive discussion on issues including racism, culture and the divide that still separates the nation's first inhabitants and their post-colonial counterparts. There is presently a yarn circle scheduled on Wednesday, 21 October, from 6-9pm, in Redfern. Entry is by donation; see YARN's website for more information.

With Goodesy T-shirts are available now. Those who purchase a T-shirt are encouraged to email a snap of them in their stylish new threads through to the site to join the ever-expanding slideshow of support.
