And then there were five

The road to Soundwave 2016 continues this morning with the revelation that Aussie heavyweights Northlane will be the fifth band stepping up to join the heavy-music fest's burgeoning line-up.

The news, broken this morning by pay TV outlet Channel V, finds the band following in the footsteps of an already high-profile cabal, so far comprised of Bullet For My Valentine, Dead Letter Circus, Failure and Refused. No two ways about it — festival promoter AJ Maddah is sticking to his word on his 'quality over quantity' mantra.

Northlane are of course in the throes of enjoying a freshly boosted profile in the wake of their acclaimed recent full-length Node, their first with new frontman Marcus Bridge. It was so eagerly awaited by their fanbase that it took the faithful all of 12 hours to solve an internet-wide scavenger hunt to piece together an entire song, so expect this news to bring with it a fresh wave of excitement in the ranks.

Still, if you've just about had a gutful of all this drip-feed nonsense, you can take heart — full line-up details for next year's Soundwave events are a matter of weeks away, though we'll have to endure another few bands' worth of this one-at-a-time promo strategy before the complete roster is revealed. Yay?
